Evening Walk
It's been a while since my last post. Life has been crazy with friends getting married, finals, moving and graduation.
I took a walk tonight. I had in my mind to go one place but I never made it there. Instead I got sidetracked by an awesome hill bathed in even better light. Then I strolled over to The Ridges to explore a little bit. Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday evening!

Spring in Athens
It's my last Spring as a student in Athens. It's a weird feeling. Spring quarter is definitely my favorite quarter here at Ohio University. The weather gets warmer and the entire campus has a newfound energy. My friend Trent made this video and it does a good job capturing Spring in Athens. Enjoy!

Pretend PR Pt. 2
Crisis management was the name of the game for our second plan of the quarter in Public Relations Principles. My group decided to adopt United Airlines and create a plan in response to negative press generated by this video.
I'd be angry, too, Dave! Mad props for creating a catchy tune to get your voice heard!
My target audience to address was established customers. This is the collateral I created, an e-mail, which would have been sent to past passengers if we were really executing this plan. I'm pretty pleased with it.

Where are you finding your identity?
I led Bible study last week on the topic of worry. Not alarmingly, the main text we looked at was Matthew 6:25-34. We talked about reasons why shouldn't worry, like that it's sin because it really signifies a lack of trust and satisfaction in the sovereignty of God, the fact that it's futile (v. 27 "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?) and the general idea that we can trust in God (the One who created and sustains the entire universe).
I think that there is an often overlooked reason in this text that encompasses all reasons why we shouldn't worry: our identity. Check out verses 26 and 30.
God feeds the birds and dresses grass better than a king in all his splendor, but they're not his children. But if we are in Christ, we are. And there's our identity. If we see ourselves as children of God, why should we worry?
Matthew 7:9-11, take it away... "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"
On a side note- I've been officially accepted for a full-time campus ministry internship with Campus Crusade for Christ at Ohio University next year. Thanks to everyone who has been praying!

26"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
30"If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"

Calling all moms
You may be familiar with the Motrin Moms campaign. It drew a lot of negative attention and criticism toward Motrin, mainly from, well, moms. We talked about it in my PR class today.
As far as I know, there are about two moms who read this blog. Maybe I will be surprised with more. I'm curious, moms- what do you think about this ad? Would love to hear your comments.

Let's pretend
I created this piece of would-be collateral for a simulation corporate social responsibility plan in the PR class I'm taking right now. I had a hard time making it look the way I want, but I think I'm slowly getting a little better better with design.
I'm starting to enjoy PR a lot more, likely because a change of professor brought a drastic change in teaching from my last class. Excited to put it to work in ministry!

EE TAOW!
"It is truth!" This video is about a tribe in Papua New Guinea that was transformed by the Gospel. It's old and kind of corny at some points, but is an amazing story about an entire people experiencing new life in Christ.
